Sonic Origins releases June 2022, DLC content revealed
SEGA has announced that Sonic Origins will release for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC on June 23, 2022.
Sonic Origins is a digital-only collection of Sonic titles, containing Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. All titles can be played in their original forms or via Anniversary mode, with the latter including full-screen visuals and infinite lives.
However, despite Origins aiming to bring some nostalgia for the classic era of Sonic titles, it also includes some of the less welcome DLC practices of modern gaming.
Heading to the game’s official website brings up a chart for the content available in the various editions and DLC. DLC content ranges from bonus medallions (earnable currency that unlocks new content in-game), to animations in the main menu.
With a base price of £32.99, Sonic Origins doesn’t do a good job of justifying these DLC practices when compared to previous Sonic compilations.
