Sony rolls out change to PlayStation trophies
Love them or have them, PlayStation trophies are here to stay. Now, for some reason, Sony have decided to change up the way trophy levels work.
Instead of the old level range of 1 to 100, your trophy level can now go all the way up to 999. This also brings changes to your current level, with SIE director of product management Toshimasa Aoki stating that “if your current Trophy level is 12, your new level will jump to somewhere in the low 200’s”.
So, what does this mean for the average gamer? Well, not a whole lot really. You’ll level up more consistently, and platinum trophies are worth more than they used to be, but overall they still have the same purpose as before. You do at least get a fancy new icon depending on your level.
The French PlayStation blog mentioned trophy progress tracking, where you’d be able to check how close you were to getting each trophy, though this was quickly removed.
