Upcoming Sony State of Play to focus on Japanese publishers
Sony has announced a new State of Play broadcast which will focus on upcoming games primarily from Japanese publishers.
Arriving tomorrow — March 9, 2022 — at 10 PM GMT, the State of Play will be available to watch on Twitch and YouTube. Lasting roughly 20 minutes, it’ll include PS4 and PS5 titles from Japanese publishers, with only a couple of games featured from publishers in other countries. Furthermore, no PlayStation VR2 titles are to be shown during the presentation.
Considering Sony’s approach to its Japanese studios over the last few console generations, it’s interesting to see the company highlighting other Japanese publishers via State of Play instead. This likely doesn’t hint at any real change in the games it’ll develop going forward, though we’d like to believe that Sony hasn’t completely forgotten its roots.
