Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin announced for 2022

During Square Enix‘s E3 livestream on Sunday, the company revealed Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, an action RPG made in collaboration with Team Ninja.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin features Jack, Ash and Jed, three self-proclaimed Warriors of Light on a journey to defeat Chaos. If the reveal trailer is anything to go by, the word “Chaos” is going to be used frequently, as Jack — and Chaos himself — constantly repeat it.

According to creative producer Tetsuya Nomura, he wanted to create “the story of an angry man”, and he seems to have been successful. Jack tears through enemies, turning them to crystal before smashing them apart.

A limited-time demo has been released on PS5, giving players a chance to try out this new style of Final Fantasy. Unfortunately, the demo itself has been taken over by Chaos and is currently broken.

The trail period for this demo is set to end on June 24, but this will probably be extended due to the current issues. Feedback from testing will influence development of the full game, something that Team Ninja has done in the past for the Nioh series.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC some time next year.
