Super Mario Party finally gets online multiplayer update
Nintendo has released a new update for Super Mario Party, unlocking the majority of modes and minigames for online play.
That’s right — after two and a half years, it’s finally possible to play Mario Party online in Super Mario Party. Before now, online play was limited to a handful of minigames, with everything else being singleplayer or local multiplayer only.
As with all premium games for the Switch, online play requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Two people can play online using the same system at least, though that doesn’t allow for a group of two, plus two solo players.
Super Mario Party was one of the worst Nintendo releases for online play in recent memory, so the update was absolutely needed. Why it was done now, however, is anyone’s guess.
