Switch 2 release date set for June 5
We finally have a Switch 2 release date, and Nintendo’s latest console is actually only a few months away. Set to launch 5 June 2025, the Switch 2 includes more powerful hardware with support for up to 4k and 120fps (the former only in docked mode), a larger screen, and reworked Joy-Con 2 controllers that connect via magnets.
The Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2 revealed that there’ll be proper voice and video chat support finally, with a larger amount of internal storage at 256GB. Additional storage is limited to microSD Express, which allows for faster data reading than standard microDS cards.
Pre-orders are set to open 9 April 2025, with the base console priced at £395.99. A bundle with a digital copy of the fully revealed Mario Kart: World is also planned, priced at £429.99.
