After confirming that custom characters will play a large role in the game, Bandai Namco has provided further Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet details regarding characters, customisation and story.
Rather than play as Kirito, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet sees you take the role of your own custom player avatar for a story that follows ‘you’ fighting alongside Kirito and the others. You’ll be able to choose your character’s gender, body, hairstyle, and more. You’ll also be able to distribute experience points between STR, VIT, INT, AGI, DEX, and LUK stats as you level up to improve the abilities of your unique character. Your character can be used to play competitively or cooperatively with other players online too.
While Kirito will be involved, ‘you’ are the protagonist and will experience your own story. Two heroines, Kureha and Zaliskam, are the keys to the story. There are also new elements toGun Gale Online, the valuable support AI ArFA-sys and the New Space Ship Area: SBC Fluegel.
After being invited by your childhood friend Kureha, you log in to Gun Gale Online, a virtual reality MMO with a world of guns and steel. You unexpectedly obtain one of the rare and valuable support AI known as ArFA-sys, attracting attention in the world of Gun Gale Online even though you are a newbie. Like you, the heroine Zeliskam also has an ArFA-sys. With guns in hand, you explore the vast world to unravel the mysteries of the newly liberated space ship area SBC Fluegel and of ArFA-sys.
Kureha (CV: Ayane Sakura)
The protagonist’s childhood friend, who invites them to log in to Gun Gale Online. She is a veteran player, who has been playing since its early days. Kureha is bright and cheerful, with a meddlesome personality, and considers it her job to personally protect the protagonist. She plays Gun Gale Online to realise her own strength, and spares no effort to discover that strength.
Zeliskam (CV: Mamoko Noto)
A mysterious and talented solo player who has made a name for herself in Gun Gale Online and has an ArFA-sys partner. She tries to understand how the protagonist got an ArFA-sys by luck, and will sometimes give harsh advice. She dotes on the ArFA-sys that accompanies her and enjoys wearing cute clothes.
The Artificial Financial Adviser System known in short as ArFA-sys. They were added to Gun Gale Online as a new feature in an update by Zaskar, the company that operates the game. ArFA-sys are support AI that learn, grow, and assist players in battle. As their name implies, they can also manage in-game assets and items. ArFA-sys are reliable partners that assist players in both battle and fortune, and are divided into several types. The protagonist’s is the valuable, high-level Type-X. You can choose the gender and appearance of your ArFA-sys.
As well as Kirito and Sinon, characters who did not log in to Gun Gale Online in the anime or original work will appear in new costumes. Kotaro Yamada, the artist behind the Sword Art Online: Project Alicization manga, is cooperating on the designs.
Asuna (CV: Haruka Tomatsu)
In Gun Gale Online, she uses a thin assault rifle that resembles the small swords she is accustomed to using.
In Gun Gale Online, she uses an assault rifle as her main weapon, but her sub-weapon is the Kouken Photon Sword, the same as Kirito’s. She uses the experience she gained using a sword in ALfheim Online to use the Photon Sword in close range battles.
Silica has brought her partner from Sword Art Online, a small dragon called Pina, into Gun Gale Online with her, but fights with her own strength rather than relying on him in battle. Her main weapon is a sub machine gun, which is light and easy to handle.
Carrying over her experience creating weapons as a blacksmith in Sword Art Online, Lisbeth is interested in customising firearms in Gun Gale Online. She fights at mid and short ranges, switching between a shotgun and a sub machine gun.
