Crowdfunding now live for Final Fantasy book The Guardians of the Crystal: An Encyclopedia of Summons
Final Fantasy Union has started a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for The Guardians of the Crystal: An Encyclopedia of Summons, a book covering 88 summons from the mainline Final Fantasy games.
It’s already reached its modest £8,500 goal at the time of writing, with a number of stretch goals still to be announced. You’ll still have plenty of time to to back the project, as crowdfunding will continue up to 28 May 2025.
As for the book itself, The Guardians of the Crystal goes over each summon’s appearance across the mainline game. This includes how the evolved alongside the series, in-game uses and lore, and the inspirations they take from real mythology.
It’s aiming for a 200-250 pages, which includes a foreword by Ben Starr, the voice of Final Fantasy XVI’s main protagonist Clive. Key summons from the series include unique artwork as well, with 13 each covered by a separate artist.
