The Hundred Line’s “Extreme & Despair” difficulty option comes to Switch

If you’re looking to add some extra spice to The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-‘s tactical battles, the newly released “Extreme & Despair” difficulty might be for you.

Out now on PC and Switch, version 1.1.1 includes this new harder setting for combat in Last Defense Academy. Enemies hit much harder in this mode (we’re talking 100 damage per attack), with certain mechanics now costing 2 AP. While there are likely still plenty of ways to cheese battles, this mode absolutely ramps up the difficulty, at least early on.

In addition, some balance changes to characters and quality of life additions are also included in the patch. It’s possible to skip more repeat fights across routes, with five characters gaining various buffs.

The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- is a fantastic visual novel with so-so battles, so being able to either skip them or at improve the difficulty is a welcome addition.
