Waifu Wars: The Legend of Best Girl – WINNER
Waifu Wars: The Legend of Best Girl took its toll on us all. Loyalties were tested, emotions laid bare, and more than one person left an angry comment on our blog posts. But in the end there could only be one winner, only one could stand tall above the rest and claim that hallowed title of “Best Girl”.
But before we reveal the winner let’s take a look back at the whole tournament before the finals, so you can get a sense of how things played out:
Round One

I’m actually fairly new to this site so please enlighten me as to the joke, I’m honestly not sure what the joke even is.
Though admittedly I would never call this cheating like some are, more unfair bias that honestly makes this competition feel pointless if the host is just gonna unfairly represent a competitor. – EEstrella

Announcing the Winner…
Really, deep down, I think we all knew who was going to win. There may have been 16 entrants, but from the very start we all knew there was really only one choice. Only one possible winner. So, without further ado, the Best Girl is…
That’s right — it’s Yamaoka. How could it be anyone else? This top chap is Kei Nanjo’s butler from Shin Megami Tensei Persona. Yamaoka truly loves young Nanjo, and cares for him as only a true waifu can. Even after embarassing Nanjo in front of the rest of the party he still follows them discreetly to the hospital to make sure all is well with Nanjo. It’s at the hospital, right at the beginning of the game, that he is killed by zombies. Yamaoka died for Nanjo’s sins — what’s better waifu material than that?
But it doesn’t stop there, even after death Yamaoka remains the perfect waifu, eventually being able to be summoned as Nanjo’s ultimate persona later in the game. Even in death Yamaoka can be best girl.
If that wasn’t enough Yamaoka returns in Persona 2 where he has a sweet-ass space surfboard. If a best girl can’t relax and have a bit of summer fun-in-the-sun on the beach then can they truly be best girl? Yamaoka is always ready to kick off his weird ribbed-for-his-pleasure trousers and make Nanjo feel like the special little guy he is. He’s always up for some “water polo”.
But fine, whatever. If you really think it should be up to the community choice then you’re welcome to think illogically about the best girl. Going by our tournament itself the winner is…
That’s right, the detective prince herself is not only great at sniffing out clues, but also votes. Somehow, against the odds, Naoto beat out Chie to become the best girl of them all. I suppose it only makes sense. Does Chie have her own spin-off? No. Naoto sure does. Because Naoto is best girl. And that is now a definitive fact.
