Welcome to the Ballroom Anime Gets Promo Video

The upcoming Welcome to the Ballroom anime adaptation launched its official website with a promo video, featuring ‘Chandelier Waltz’ by Unison Square Garden, which will presumably feature as the opening song to the series. Check out the promo below:

Here’s how Kodansha, who are publishing the manga, describe the plot:

Fujita has drifted through middle school aimlessly, unable to find friends or anything that can hold his attention. Then, one day, he’s attacked by a gang and saved by a mysterious man. But this isn’t a karate master; it’s a ballroom dance instructor! Reluctantly, Fujita takes a few beginner’s classes, only to find his inspiration… an entrancing, teenage dance prodigy named Shizuku. It’s Fujita’s first step into the high-octane world of competitive dance!

Welcome to the Ballroom anime

Welcome to the Ballroom recently drifted on to my radar as something to consider picking up, so, naturally, I’m delighted that it will be getting an anime! The style isn’t what I expected somehow, being very reminiscent of Haikyuu!! from what we can see in the promo, but that’s by no means bad.

Given the nature of the manga being about dancing, I think an anime adaptation will suit the series really well! I’m eagerly awaiting further previews for this – in particular, I can’t wait to get a taste of the music.

The Welcome to the Ballroom anime will premiere in summer 2017.
