Live Action JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Announced

After much speculation, a live action JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure adaptation has now been confirmed! The production staff and main cast have also been announced. The movie will be an adaptation of the fourth story arc, Diamond is Unbreakable. The question on everyone’s lips, however, is ‘will they be able to pull it off?’

The film is being directed by Takashi Miike, who directed Terra Formars and the 2012 Ace Attorney film. Kento Yamazaki, who recently starred as L in the Death Note live action TV series, will be playing protagonist Josuke Higashikata.

Fans of the series have met the announcement with more cynicism than excitement. It’s pretty much to be expected, given the amount of terrible live action adaptations in general, but also because of the series’ outrageous visuals and storylines. Series creator, Hirohiko Araki, however, is delighted about the adaptation.

It’s clear from the title, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Chapter 1, that this is intended to be a series. Whether or not that will go ahead, we will have to wait and see.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Chapter 1 is scheduled for release in 2017.
