Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord remaster launch May 23

Digital Eclipse has announced that the remaster of dungeon crawler Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord will leave Early Access on May 23, 2024.

In addition to the existing PC version, Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord will also release for Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation on the same day.

As a remake of the original Apple II release, this version includes 3D visuals, updated sounds and music, and numerous quality of life features. Since it’s built directly on top of the existing version, you can play with both versions side by side at the same time (or even play with the original graphics).

The Wizardry franchise has an interesting history. Despite its origins in the west, most new releases have actually been from Japanese developers. This ranges from more traditional dungeon crawlers, to the upcoming mobile title Wizardry Variants Daphne.
