Anime Streaming Service Daisuki Closing this Year
Free anime streaming service Daisuki has announced that they will be closing their doors before the year’s end. Anime Consortium Japan Inc.’s decision to close the service hasn’t been revealed, but it’s likely due to the growing streaming competition in the West.
You can read the full press release here, but Daisuki will cease to be come 15th December 2017. That applies to the service as a whole though, as the streaming aspect of the service will stop on 31st October with the exclusion of Dragon Ball Super.
It’s sad to see that Daisuki are closing their doors, but the competition to stream anime in the West is growing fiercer with the likes of Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Amazon, Anime Lab and Animax all in the fray, and so maybe a company pulling out was inevitable. They offered a great free service though, and they’ll be missed.
We at Rice Digital wish the best for the employees of Daisuki.
