Clockwork Aquario was originally intended to release in arcades, with development starting nearly 30 years ago. However, its 2D platforming gameplay was at odds with the changing arcade landscape, which was quickly moving to 3D games at the time.
After finally finishing development and releasing on PS4 and Switch last year (earning the game a Guinness World Record for longest time between a videogame project start and final release), Clockwork Aquario was given a chance to shine outside of arcades.
