New Ghost in the Shell Anime Project Announced
Although the live action Ghost in the Shell film premiered back in March, April 7th marks its proper theatrical release in Japan. As such, it’s nice timing for the announcement of a new Ghost in the Shell anime project! With long-standing series producers Production I.G. at the wheel once again, I’d say we’re in good hands for this one!
Kenji Kamiyama, who directed the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex TV series and Solid State Society movie, will be co-directing with Shinji Aramaki, director of the CG Appleseed movies.
Whether for good or for ill, the live action film has brought the series into the spotlight a lot lately, but a new Ghost in the Shell anime still comes as a pleasant surprise! Little else is known about the new project at this stage, such as whether it will be 2D or 3D and what format it will be in.
Details on the new project’s release will be announced ‘as soon as it is decided’.
