Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga English fan translation out now

Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga, a PSP arena fighter featuring Falcom’s two main franchises, now has an unofficial English release via fan localisation team The Geofront.

The English patch will work on both real PSPs and emulators (PPSSPP is the simplest choice), with the latter giving you access to a couple of extra features. For starters, you can download the optional HD texture pack. This improves most of the games 2D assets, including character art and the UI.

PPSSPP also has support for online play. While Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga was originally intended for local play only, it’s possible to play with friends via Parsec and some tinkering — it’s all detailed in The Geofront’s Patching and setup guide.

It’s an impressive release overall, even going as far as swapping the X and O button functions as if this was an official western PSP title.

There are currently no other fan translation projects listed on The Geofront’s site, though we’d imagine work on the official English releases of Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure will be keeping a lot of the team busy.
