Dark Souls PC servers to remain offline until after Elden Ring launch

Bandai Namco has released a statement on the security issues with the Dark Souls series on PC, stating that the severs will remain offline until after the release of Elden Ring.

The servers for all three Dark Souls titles have been taken down by the publisher after a serious security flaw was discovered which could potentially be exploited to run code on other players’ PCs. According to the statement, the cause of this exploit has been identified and a fix is being worked on.

Elden Ring is now launching on February 25, 2022 after being delayed by a month. This means that online play for all Dark Souls games on PC wont be available until later this month at the very earliest — console versions will continue to remain unaffected.

At the very least, discovery of the exploit has meant that a similar issue should not be present in Elden Ring — the statement even mentions that “the necessary security measures are in place”.
