We’ve got some One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 tips and tricks for you, so you can get the most out of the new adventure with Luffy and co! We’ll show you the best way to get S ranks, how to efficiently use the Growth Map, and and the best ways to get coins and berries.
How to get S Rank after clearing a stage in Pirate Warriors 4
This can be a really tricky task to do at first, but you get an S Rank for clearing a stage if you clear it in a fast time, as well as defeating a lot of enemies – so that the ranking for these conditions are both S. The best tactic is to go fast and be as destructive as possible. I advise you attempt clearing the stages in any of the modes after levelling up some of the attributes on the Growth Map.
Be sure to level up your characters via the Growth Map!
Things are going to get hard for you at a certain point. I recommend you level up your character via the Growth Map feature before you start a new stage. You can level up various attributes that allow you to raise your stats: Health, Stamina, Power and Defense. You can also learn more actions through the action growth markers, and gain new special moves and skills through spending a certain amount of specific coins and berries. There is one map that affects all the characters, which means you have two maps for your character of choice. The second one unlocks when you get a character’s crew level up to Level 4 by using them in stages and defeating enemies with special moves. It’s also worth noting that until certain points in the story, there are some question marks on the map, but those will be unlocked after you clear these parts of the story.
Play through Treasure Log Mode to grind up coins and berries
If you miss a few coins or lack the berries, you can easily get the needed coins by playing through the Treasure Log Mode. The episodes will always get you a certain amount of specific coins, and will also net you a good amount of berries you can use on the Growth Maps of your character of choice. Mission conditions in the Treasure Log Mode are randomised so you can have wildly different conditions the next time you tackle the same episode!
How to unlock characters in Pirate Warriors 4
As you go through the Dramatic Log mode, you end up unlocking a good few characters through playing the story missions – you may also get to hear that you have unlocked the conditions to unlock a character. These conditions can vary from collecting a certain amount of different coins, defeating a certain amount of enemies (as is the case with Niji pictured above), clearing a specific episode on the Treasure Log Mode or clearing different Treasure Log episodes. These conditions are on the Character Select and Character Unlock Conditions on the Player Information menu for that specific locked character.
However if you pre-ordered the game you have early unlocks for Ichiji, Niji and Yonji, and if you get the Digital Deluxe Edition you have an early unlock for Katakuri.
There are also costumes you can unlock for certain characters through raising their crew levels to a certain level, while some can unlock through playing Dramatic Log – but most costumes will be DLC.
There are also 9 DLC characters coming in a Season Pass for the game at a later date but I am not so sure who they are as of now!
Try out Co-Op Mode if a stage is still difficult
If you still have a difficult time with a certain stage, and you have access to the online multiplayer, you can try to Co-Op the stage with someone else online.
That’s most important! Have fun playing the game and have a good time.
