Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World heads to PC June 29

Having released on consoles earlier this year, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World will also be launching on PC via Steam tomorrow.

Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is a 3D reimagining of Monster World IV by developer Studio Artdink, tweaking a few things while leaving most of the original gameplay intact.

In my review of the PS4 version, I stated that the game “feels incredibly dated alongside modern platformers”, mainly due to the aforementioned lack of changes. It’ll certainly please old-school Monster World IV fans at least, even if the visuals are arguably a downgrade.

Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World story overview via Studio Artdink:

This is Monster World. Asha, who has just become a warrior, is involved in a serious incident involving the kingdom’s existence. Four spirits were trapped by invaders who plotted to make this world their own. Asha, who was ordered by Queen Prapril to rescue the spirits, set out on an adventure with Peperogu, a mysterious creature she met in the royal city of Rapadana. Asha worked together with Peperogu to overcome various difficulties. Can they save this world?
