Our top picks from the eastasiasoft Summer 2023 Showcase

Last Monday, eastasiasoft premiered their biggest Summer Showcase yet, spotlighting a veritable smorgasbord of hype-worthy indie games that are set to launch in the coming months across consoles and PC. No matter what your indie flavour of choice is, there’ll be something in this line-up for you to get excited about.  

A whopping 21 titles were mentioned alongside this chock-full 13-minute showcase. Here are our highlights!

Chaos Galaxy

Take charge on the interstellar battlefield in this upcoming tactical combat adventure.

The Great Galactic Empire has collapsed under the sudden impact of alien contact, and civil war has broken out. Choose to play as one of 14 unique factions – or even the Empire itself. Take control of the battle map to manage your commanders, strategically deploy warships and mechas, and negotiate with rival factions.

Will you save humanity from its own annihilation, or would you rather speed up the process as a ruthless corporate entity or deadly AI? The future of the galaxy is up to you! 

Chaos Galaxy is coming to the Nintendo eShop on 13th July.

Magic Exposure – Yuri Visual Novel

When Bianca’s myth-busting father has to go away on a long trip, he asks his daughter to clean out the attic. But when she does, she finds an old camera that captures more than meets the eye…

Follow the tale (or tails – I’ll be here all week) of two unlikely companions in a world of cute anthropomorphic characters! Will lonely bunny girl Bianca and mysterious demon girl Erika become furry friends, or perhaps something more?  

Magic Exposure – Yuri Visual Novel launches digitally for Switch, PS5 and PS4 on 25th July.

Feeble Light

This adorable three-tone pixel art shmup follows a little star trying to rid the cosmos of angry celestial beings. Inspired by genre classics, this title is a vertical bullet hell, featuring minimalistic yet striking visuals that you can navigate through with precision controls. 

That’s some serious pixelated eye-candy. Plus, taking down bosses can even earn you new colour palettes to add a personal touch to future runs!

Feeble Light is blasting into digital release on Switch, PS5, PS4 and Steam on 7th July.

Mugen Souls Z

The sequel to the beloved JRPG, Mugen Souls, is coming to the Switch this September. 

Get ready to conquer the twelve Zodiac worlds as undisputed goddess Chou-Chou, with the help of new and returning frenemies! You’ll be free-roaming your way through expansive battle maps in strategic turn-based combat – and with a level cap of 9999, you’ll be able to unleash ungodly amounts of damage.

What’s more, the Mugen Souls Z Limited Edition is available to pre-order now, exclusively from Playasia. Including an official artbook, manual, two-disc original soundtrack and more, this is the perfect edition for fans of all things moe! Standard physical editions are also available. 

Mugen Souls Z launches on the Nintendo eShop on 14th September.

Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains

The award-winning Chinese RPG arrives on new platforms this year. Embark on an epic journey as Septem, a Frankish Knight caught in the midst of a power struggle between disparate cultures, as he journeys to locate the Invincible Arts of War.

Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains is coming to digital release for Nintendo Switch and PC in 2023 – an exact date is to be confirmed.

Familiar faces from across the Sword and Fairy universe come together to run an inn and build a happy life in Sword and Fairy Inn 2, a cute n’ cozy RPG sim!

With each satisfied customer your inn – and village – grows. Travel the world to find legendary kitchenware, trade special food items, play mini games and more! 

The vibes are exceptionally wholesome.

Sword and Fairy Inn 2 is coming to digital release for Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on 27th July. You can also find a truly kawaii Nintendo Switch Collector’s Edition exclusively at Playasia, slated for release in Q3 2023.

Slime Girl Smoothies

Take a load off at Slimy’s bar, where all the lovely hostesses are slime girls with their own unique way of serving drinks! As the floor manager, it’s your job to help the girls create wacky new drink combinations, make new memories with the girls, and more. 

Slime Girl Smoothies is coming to the Nintendo eShop on 4th August.
