Like its predecessor the Game Boy, Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance was a big hit on its original release, but as time has gone on much of its library has fallen into “underappreciated” territory. There are some fantastic games available for it, though — and the lineup available on Nintendo Switch Online, although slim at launch, showcases some of the best.
Unusual dexterity puzzler in which you control a constantly rotating propeller as you negotiate mazes. Compelling and infuriating in equal measure.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
One of several Zelda titles developed in collaboration with Capcom. Often overlooked, but well worth playing.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
The third Mario RPG after Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario. Noteworthy for its lighthearted, whimsical style and emphasis on comedy.
Mario Kart Super Circuit
While obviously superceded by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the distinctive look and feel of this GBA entry in the series means it’s still worth a play.
Super Mario Advance 4
It’s Super Mario Bros. 3… again. If somehow you’ve never played this classic by this point, this is as good a means as any to do so. Also includes the e-Reader stages.
The first entry in the WarioWare series, pioneering the rapid-fire “microgame” concept as its main means of engaging the player. Supremely playable.
