Animal Crossing: New Horizons free update and paid expansion launching November 5

Today’s Animal Crossing Direct has revealed a wealth of new content coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons on November 5, including free additions and a paid expansion pack.

The free update sees the return of familiar faces Brewster and Kapp’n, opening up more facilities both on and off your island.

Other substantial additions include farming and cooking, letting you grow vegetables and create various dishes that can restore your stamina — or even just be used as decoration.

Meanwhile, Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise is a paid expansion launching on the same day. It expands upon the gameplay found in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer on the 3DS, letting you customise the homes and islands of various characters.

Amiibo can be used to design homes for specific characters — including Isabelle! — with Nintendo planning to release a fifth series of amiibo cards next month.

Happy Home Paradise will cost £22.49 / €24.99 on its own, though it will also be part of the recently announced Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack — a year is priced at £59.99 / €69.99.
