Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack nearly double regular subscription cost
Alongside today’s Animal Crossing Direct, Nintendo also revealed the price for its upcoming Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.
Individual membership to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is priced at £34.99 / €39.99, compared to the standard £17.99 / €19.99, while an eight account family plan is £59.99 / €69.99 (standard £31.49 / €34.99).
While this is still lower than the RRP for a year of PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold, Switch Online doesn’t offer newer titles or better online features.
During the Animal Crossing Direct, Nintendo also announced that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise DLC will be included as part of Online + Expansion Pack for “free”.
So, if you’re not interested in both the Nintendo 64 and Mega Drive games and Happy Home Paradise, it doesn’t seem like there’s much incentive to upgrade. Anyone that just wants to try out Mega Drive games can pick up one of the compilation titles, and Animal Crossing players would be better off paying the one-time fee instead.
