Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Announced for PS4, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Available on PS4 Now

Hoo boy, the rumours about Marvel vs Capcom 4 being announced at PlayStation Experience were so true that they showed off Marvel vs Capcom Infinite as the second trailer of the show! Unexpectedly though they also announced that Ultimate MvC 3 is available on PS4 right now (so, later today I guess)!

Not only is this sequel great news for fans of the game, as the legacy of the series has constantly been on the ropes due to licensing worries, but bringing the much loved Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 forward to the current generation is a masterstroke!

The trailer doesn’t reveal too much yet, simply showing Mega Man X and Ryu facing off against Iron Man and Captain Marvel. Interestingly this could fit in with the theory that the game’s Marvel roster will be focusing on Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, though obviously as frontrunners of the current Marvel comics event (Civil War II), it could simply be a coincidence to use those two characters and not a deliberate omission of X-Men and other non-MCU characters.

“For the last two decades, Marvel vs. Capcom has been one of the most celebrated franchises among fans. To deliver on that legacy, we’ve worked closely with Capcom to create a game that honors the heritage of the series and combines Marvel’s unique brand of storytelling with Capcom’s world-class gameplay. We’re raising the bar with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and are excited for players to get their hands on it next year.” – Mike Jones, Executive Producer, Marvel Entertainment

It doesn’t seem like we’ll need to do too much speculation, though, as they don’t seem shy about showing off Marvel vs Capcom Infinite now that it’s out and announced. The Capcom Cup tonight will showcase the first gameplay from Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and should reveal more about what the game will be like and how it will play!

“It was deeply inspiring for our development team to join forces again with Marvel and we can’t wait for our fans to experience the benefits of that collaboration first hand. With Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, our goal is to provide memorable experiences and infinite gameplay possibilities for players of all skill levels.” –  Michael Evans, Director of Production for Capcom USA

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is dropping today on PlayStation 4, and features a brand new gallery mode, all the DLC, and enhanced performance at 1080p, 60fps. It will be priced at £19.99/ $24.99/ €24.99. The remake will also appear on Xbox One and PC later on March 2017.
