Latest Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin trailer reveals more backstory

While Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin might have been heavily memed on after its initial reveal, every new trailer for Team Ninja’s Final Fantasy 1 reimagining makes it look like a genuinely intriguing title.

The bulk of this latest trailer focuses on Jack, his fellow “Warriors of Light”, and the four fiends of chaos. Stranger of Paradise still seems to tie heavily into the original Final Fantasy (the main character is basically confirmed to be its antagonist, Garland), putting a different twist on the time travelling story.

Square Enix has also detailed more jobs that Jack will be able to use on his journey to kill Chaos. Red Mage allows for a combination of swordplay and powerful magic, Berserker can use brutal axe and greatsword attacks, and Samurai can recover MP at an accelerated rate.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin launches March 18, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
