Animal Crossing New Horizons Villager Named After Grandma Who Played New Leaf For Over 3,000 Hours

Animal Crossing New Horizons is very much on the horizon, and a number of early reviews have been released. All the reviews are great of course, but one Reddit user noticed that there’s a new villager named after a very special person in the AC community!

In case you didn’t know, Audrey is famous for being an 87-year old grandma who loves Animal Crossing. She’s put over 3500 hours into New Leaf, and she has some villagers she loves and some she finds incredibly rude… it’s all very wholesome. You can watch the initial video in which her grandson conducted a form of interview with her, running through her town below.

The original video:

As you can see in the video, Audrey’s player character is named ‘Audie’ – as she’s greeted by Isabelle.

Reddit user u/koolwala discovered that this name matches up with a new villager in Animal Crossing New Horizons, as can be seen in NintendoWorldReport’s review!

I think this is such a wholesome story, and whilst it’s not officially confirmed that Nintendo did this on purpose, I find it too unique a name for it to be a coincidence. We definitely need more of this kind of thing given the current situation – and boy oh boy I can’t wait to get lost in New Horizons when it releases this Friday!
