After the amazing announcements at Sony’s E3 press conference, it’s time to take a look at the real star of the show, Shenmue 3. Its been 14 years since the last installment in this legendary franchise and it’s finally time to revisit this world. Very little was revealed about Shenmue 3, but at least we know that the project is underway.
The game will be made using the Unreal 4 engine. It will feature familiar elements, but also have totally new fighting mechanics.
For newcomers, Shenmue is part life simulation, part fighting game, part RPG, part adventure game where you set out to get revenge for your father’s murder. The story starts in Japan in Shenmue and continues across China in Shenmue 2. The games first appeared on the Sega Dreamcast and were enormous adventures which spanned multiple disks. The second game was re-released on the original Xbox and the series went dormant after that. No one really wanted to help fund the third installment, since the first two were among of the most expensive games ever made. Now with this Kickstarter we can finally get our hands on this long due sequel.
The entire hype around Shenmue 3 starter with a single tweet from Yu Suzuki of a forklift. Still, many were reluctant to think much of it with all the fruitless teasers in the past.

It looks like the project is still very early in development. Shenmue 3 will be created for the PC and PlayStation 4 with a December 2017 date.
